Masonry Cement Type N

Used in normal residential and non-residential applications such as veneer, curtain and partial walls, chimneys and back up walls.

SUGGESTED USES
Exterior and interior masonry work: 

Each 66lb (30kg) of Masonry Cement mixed with 3cuft of sand will produce 3cuft mortar.

Have materials required on hand: clean water, sand (2 ¼ -3cuft loose damp Masonry Sand), watertight mechanical mixer, measuring pots, trowel, mortar board, etc.

  1. Start the mixer
  2. Place ¾ of the required amount of water, ½ the required amount of sand and all the masonry cement in the mixer
  3. Mix briefly
  4. Add the remaining sand and water in the mixer and mix for a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 minutes after the last mix water has been added. This assures homogeneity and workability of the mortar.
For best results:
Do’s
  • Although minor retempering is allowed, mortar should be used or discarded after 90 minutes
  • When mixed with sand that meets requirements of specifications ASTM C-144  Type N Masonry Cement produces mortar that exceeds ASTM C-270 specification for mortar which requires a minimum average 28-day compressive strength of 750psi and 75% minimum water retention.
Don’ts
  • Avoid working in extreme weather conditions
  • Don’t attempt to move or adjust masonry units once the mortar has begun to stiffen

Wear tight-fitting goggles, protective respiratory masks, gloves and protective clothing. This product, dry or wet, can cause irritation and severe burns. In case of eye contact, flush with plenty of water and seek medical attention. Repeated inhalation can cause lung disease. DO NOT TAKE INTERNALLY. DO NOT INHALE. KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND PETS.

 

Clean up with soap and water.

Rinse tools before material hardens.

Packages should be stored to keep free from moisture.
